Lectrolite harnesses lotus functionality through training

Johannesburg, 26 Jul 1999

Motor components manufacturer, Lectrolite, a member of the Imperial Group of companies, is enjoying greater functionality of their Lotus products, thanks to user training.

Merle Mendes, project manager at Lectrolite explains that the company has used Lotus for many years. "In fact, most of the Imperial Group companies run on Lotus, including Lotus Notes and Lotus SmartSuite."

The company recently upgraded from Lotus Version 5 to Lotus Millennium as part of their Year 2000 compliance project. "We had to change some equipment for Y2K compliance, so decided to load Lotus` Millennium on to all our machines at the same time."

Most of Lectrolite`s users have now been trained on Millennium by I-Fusion Training, part of JSE-listed I-Fusion Group, as well as undertaking refreshment training.

"Lectrolite requires customised training. We need to know the differences between versions of Lotus. The method of instruction I-Fusion Training employs is to look at the macros Lectrolite uses and then build training courses around these," she explains.

Says Mendes: "Although we have not yet fully rolled out Millennium, we are already seeing benefits of training. Lotus Millennium offers a far greater level of functionality, which our users can now utilise, thanks to I-Fusion Training." Lectrolite has been an I-Fusion Training customer for the past four years. According to Mendes, Lectrolite were introduced to I-Fusion Training by the company they were then part of. "The reason we have remained a customer of I-Fusion Training is they understand our specific needs."
