Latest imaging tech showcased

The 'latest and greatest' in imaging technology was on display in Santa Maria at Marian Medical Centre's Plaza Diagnostic Imaging Centre, according to the Santa Maria Times.

Comparing the leaps in diagnostic imaging over the past five to 15 years to the jump from analogue TV to high-definition, hospital officials hosted an open house for the public to showcase its advanced low-dose CT scanner and high-definition MRI system, which were installed in late September and early October.

When the Plaza Diagnostic Imaging Centre opened in 2006, it had top-of-the-line equipment, says Vickie Berry, Marian's imaging services director. However, in that short time, imaging resolution has increased by bounds, and the new equipment is the current state-of-the-art. “This is just the next thing,” she says.

Kodak engages Document Security

Rochester-based Document Security Systems (DSS) has signed an agreement with Eastman Kodak that will see the photo and imaging company turning DSS technology into printing options on Kodak digital presses, reveals ROC Now.

Under the agreement, Kodak will sell an array of secure image technology products under its brand, including packing and labelling technologies, security printing technology and plastic substrate security.

“We're a small company,” says DSS CEO Patrick White. “Kodak has the brand name and girth and global reach we don't have. We're going to be able to penetrate the world now.”

HP's profits up 5%

Hewlett-Packard's (HP) fourth quarter profits were around $2.5 billion, a 5% increase, says Top Wire XS.

The company says its earnings are higher than analyst predicted they would be. Their largest revenues come from their printing and imaging group and printer sales have gone up 14%.

HP was without a chief executive until about three weeks ago when Leo Apotheker became the companies CEO. Apotheker declined to give detailed plans about HP's future plans.
