Justin Ramayia, an executive in Telkom South Africa's broadband office, has been appointed as CEO of Multi-links, a Nigerian-based telecoms operator, with effect from 1 April 2007.
Reuben September, acting CEO of Telkom, said Ramayia would relocate to Nigeria shortly to assume his new position.
Telkom acquired 75% of the equity shareholding of holding company Kenston Investments Limited in Multi-Links last month. Multi-Links is Nigeria's pioneer private telephone operator (PTO) and was also the first telecommunications operator in Nigeria to introduce Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology, a digital technology that enables the provision of more efficient and cost-effective wireless solutions.
Ramayia has occupied various positions at Telkom since joining the company in 1976 and was the executive at Telkom's Fulfilment and Assurance Management Centre prior to his appointment.
Ramayia's appointment as CEO of Multi-Links takes the form of a secondment for a period of three years.
