JustEnough has implemented its demand and inventory management solution at Nashua and is already showing impressive results, with increases in customer service levels and stock availability, as well as increased human resource efficiencies.
Kathy Allan, logistics manager at Nashua, explains that JustEnough needed to automate Nashua`s manual replenishment processes by providing accurate and easy to use replenishment mechanisms for the buying department. Nashua also looked to JustEnough for the management and alerting of high-tech stock levels with very distinct product characteristics, and to ensure that the stock levels held at the warehouse met the demand from the multiple franchise customers and special contract clients.
In a matter of weeks of implementation of the JustEnough solution, stock availability increased from 70% to 90%.
For Nashua staff, the JustEnough solution has dramatically cut down on the time and effort that they invest in basic business processes. Whereas previously each and every line item had to be manually evaluated for replenishment on a monthly basis, now automated exception reporting enables proactive replenishment and increased human resource efficiency with regards to this previously labour-intensive process.
This daily replenishment and exception reporting gives Nashua the ability to analyse potential stock-outs and rectify the situation before it occurs.
Using data from Nashua`s existing home-grown transaction system, JustEnough recovers profit from inventory by making it easier to eliminate excess stock, reduce lost sales and minimise the cost and time in doing so.
A valuable product supercession process has also been introduced.
According to Trevor Lambiotte, Senior Consultant at JustEnough, JustEnough uses a scientific forecasting engine to handle the demand forecasting, and once this is in place the system is able to automatically predict what will be sold, day-by-day, week-by-week and month-by-month. Accurate Demand Forecasting and Planning solutions link the supply and demand so that the right product gets to the right place at the right time.
