JD Edwards announces plans to deliver CRM on Linux

Integrated JD Edwards CRM offering includes DB2 and WebSphere software from IBM

Johannesburg, 26 Jun 2002

JD Edwards recently announced plans to offer JD Edwards CRM applications built on a Linux-based infrastructure from IBM, beginning with the financial services industry.

JD Edwards CRM is well suited for large and mid-sized enterprises, and this version will represent the first offering from JD Edwards to support Linux, the open source operating system. The Intel-based solution includes IBM DB2 database and WebSphere Application Server software for Linux running on the IBM eServer xSeries.

JD Edwards` collaborative CRM offering is a leading application that helps businesses in key industries, such as financial services, harness key information surrounding their customers to strengthen and grow relationships.

Key advantages to JD Edwards CRM are the ability to provide a single view of a client`s activity across the company - which may include multiple accounts and transactions that take place on several systems - and its data inheritance capability that lets customers access their most important client data without having to replicate or copy data into another data model.

"Announcing the company`s first Linux-based offering is very appropriate at FOCUS 2002, the JD Edwards User Group Conference," said Dave Siebert, group vice president, JD Edwards. "Over the last several months, more and more customers have expressed interest in Linux-based solutions. Partnering with IBM on this initiative makes sense, because they are clearly viewed as a leader in this emerging arena. Making JD Edwards CRM available on the Linux platform, including IBM software, helps us make customers stronger."

"The combination of JD Edwards CRM offering and the reliability and cost-effectiveness of the Linux operating system, is ideally suited for the needs of the financial services industry," said Al Sabo, vice president, financial services, IBM.

"We are pleased to have JD Edwards join our rapidly growing list of application providers for Linux," said Scott Handy, director, software solutions, IBM. "This new JD Edwards offering will be IBM`s preferred CRM application for Linux in financial services, and includes leading DB2 and WebSphere software from IBM, giving customers the robustness, flexibility and lower total cost of ownership advantages of an open environment."

IBM Global Services and JD Edwards Consulting Services will offer installation and customisation support for the application in addition to full service and support options for the entire solution including the JD Edwards CRM application, IBM software and hardware and the Linux operating system.

JD Edwards and IBM plan to jointly market this Linux-based offering, having signed a memorandum of understanding with intent to execute a definitive joint marketing agreement.
