IT SETA hits the road to boost image

The Information Systems Electronics and Telecommunications Technologies` (ISETT) SETA is embarking on a four-city roadshow to improve its image and meet IT industry stakeholders ahead of the upcoming SETA AGM.

The SETA has suffered from negative publicity in recent months, with allegations of inefficiency made by major industry players and a disciplinary hearing against its CEO, Mateli Mpuntsha, which found him not guilty of financial irregularities.

In response to criticism, the SETA recently conceded that its communication strategy needed improvement, and it has embarked on a new "Masithethe" (Let`s talk) campaign.

The initiative kicks off with a roadshow, in which all interested parties will be able to voice concerns about SETA operations. ISETT SETA marketing manager Georgina Lefifi says the roadshow will travel to Johannesburg on 18 March, Cape Town on 19 March, Port Elizabeth on 26 March and Durban on 27 March. The SETA will unveil its new business strategy at these sessions.

Lefifi says: "The roadshow is open to all stakeholders in the ISETT sector, not just skills development facilitators. It is aimed at improving communications and enabling all parties involved in the industry to discuss issues of common concern. We also want to correct any misperceptions and interact in a more personal way with players in the industry."

Issues raised during the roadshow may be included on the agenda for the SETA`s AGM on 9 April.

Details of the roadshow are available at www.isett.org.za.
