Intersoft introduces Web site

Intersoft, one of Southern Africa`s foremost distributors of computer books, has again taken the market lead. Already known for excellent personalised service, pricing and variety, Intersoft has now introduced a user-friendly website, with a personalised search engine to help you choose the right book.

The Intersoft website - www.intersoft.co.za - allows the computer book user to obtain information on a wide range of computer books, from training to certification to technical to programming and applications. The personalised search engine on the site has been specially created to allow individuals to input information such as personal learning preferences, level of IT proficiency and preferred publisher. The site will then recommend a couple of `best-suited` titles.

As the site grows and new books are published, pictures and descriptions of every book Intersoft has access to become available. Purchasers from the site are encouraged to submit their personal book reviews, as feedback is considered vital. It is only through objective feedback, Intersoft maintains, that it can supply the purchaser with the information needed. Online interaction with Intersoft experts is encouraged and there are plans to create a chat room, where people can discuss the books, ask questions and receive real-time answers.

"Provided you have the bricks and mortar backing, as well as the service and quality, we believe that companies can and will be successful on the Internet," says Ronald Woolf, director. He means it, too - average delivery times for a book purchased from the Intersoft website is 48 hours.

The site is aimed at attracting computer book users from areas, who have no local retail computer book outlets, as well as corporate users and computer users in Sub-Saharan Africa.

"We want to expose as many people as possible to as many books as possible, and our e-commerce enabled Internet site will allow us to do this," Woolf clarifies. "We currently stock approximately 1 400 computer related titles and we have access to well over 10 000 titles through our international publishers (including Sybex, Hungry Minds, O`Reilly, Pearson Education).

"As a company dedicated to fast, efficient service, our aim is to provide www.intersoft.co.za users with high service levels. Because we have stock available in our warehouse, when an order is relayed via our site, we can immediately send it through to our warehouse and dispatch it within 24hours. If a book we do not keep is requested, we place a special order with our publishers and have the book air-freighted to South Africa."

As well as being the quickest, Intersoft also aims to be the most cost effective. Delivery of books to city centres (Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, PE and East London) is free of charge, whilst delivery to outlying areas is charged a nominal amount. Concerning areas outside of South African borders, Intersoft calculates the weight and timeframe of delivery service requested, then charges the purchaser accordingly. However, Intersoft understands that not everyone wants to purchase over the net, so a call centre has been set-up that will assist Internet browsers with further information relating to additional facts and their nearest dealers.

Woolf says: "The introduction of our e-commerce site is a major coup for us as it will enable us to encourage those users outside South Africa and outside main city centres into the wonderful world of computer books - now only a click away."
