Interactive edu-portal targets millions

SAP aims to reach millions of university students and academics, in more than 35 countries around the world, through its interactive Web portal SAP University Alliances community.

SAP University Alliance programme manager Max Fuzani says the portal, which was in beta testing for four years, will provide easy access to SAP systems and information. It will also connect academics to thought leaders around the world.

A statement from the software developer describes the portal as a multifaceted online environment, which delivers resources for bringing real-life SAP knowledge and skills into university classrooms.

“The portal will also facilitate collaboration with exchange programmes and scholarships around the globe,” says Fuzani.

Virtual reality

The portal will provide pre-configured courses and others that can be adapted to the specific needs of different institutions. Fuzani explains this flexibility is provided so academics can contribute to the development of curriculum relevant to their own environment.

The statement adds the SAP University Alliances community will emulate the feel of a tertiary institution. It will feature a career resource centre, faculty club, student union, library and other facilities set in a virtual environment.

“The portal highlights SAP's global commitment to technology education, and will help increase student participation and expand the worldwide pool of SAP-knowledgeable graduates,” says SAP co-CEO L'eo Apotheker.
