The Institute of Chartered IT Professionals (ICITP) has launched the first South African Information Technology Professional Designation, namely Information Technology Certified Professional (ITCP) SA which is accessible worldwide.
Recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), the ITCP designation is the entry-level designation of ICITP, designed to create specialised practitioners in information technology whom are practically competent and possess business skills. The ITCP syllabus covers core business skills such as information management, entrepreneurship and financial management.

For the Professional Designation to be awarded, professionals must possess an underlying Registered Qualification or Part Qualification such as a Diploma and/or a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science and Computer Engineering at NQF Level 6 and NQF Level 7 respectively.
Competency Assessment: The ITCP (SA) Board Examination is compulsory and this Designation may be awarded through Recognition of Prior Learning.
In order to ensure the currency of professional knowledge and to retain the Professional Designation, the professional must comply with and adhere to the Professional Body Codes of Conduct and Ethics and 20 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points per year must be accumulated and recorded. Member must ensure that the annual membership fee is paid.
