Infoblox, a global leader in appliance-based platforms for highly secure, manageable and robust core network services - including domain name resolution (DNS), IP address assignment (DHCP) and IP address management (IPAM), today announced it received the highest rating, “Strong Positive”, in Gartner's 2009 MarketScope for DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management (DDI) products.
According to the report, a “strong positive” rating indicates that a vendor is viewed as a provider of strategic products, services or solutions, with whom existing customers should continue planned investments and potential customers should consider a strong choice for strategic investments. Infoblox was one of six vendors evaluated in the report.
Evaluation criteria included: market strategy, offering (product) strategy, innovation, overall viability (business unit, financial, strategy, and organisation), geographic strategy, marketing execution and customer experience. It is Gartner's first MarketScope to address the critical core network services appliance market. Infoblox pioneered core network services appliances and has delivered a number of industry firsts, including the first DNS, DHCP, and IPAM appliances.
Infoblox is also the inventor and sole provider of Grid technology, which links a collection of appliances into a unified, centrally managed, core network services platform. This essential differentiator provides significant advantages for service resilience, scalability, manageability and data integrity. The MarketScope report noted the strong capabilities and advanced features of the Web-based Infoblox GUI.
The report summarises the primary drivers for emergence and growth of the DDI market: “An explosion in IP addresses (from IP telephony, mobile devices, virtualised services and other networkable endpoints) and an increased awareness of the mission-critical nature of DNS and DHCP services...” Further, the report states: “The rise of the appliance-based offerings have transformed the market and given enterprises another reason to consider DDI solutions.”
“We are honoured to receive Gartner's highest rating in the first DDI MarketScope," said Richard Kagan, vice-president of worldwide marketing at Infoblox. "We see this as recognition of DNS, DHCP and IPAM as mission-critical network services - no longer are scripts, spreadsheets and freeware solutions adequate to address the management, stability and operational needs of today's enterprises.”
