ICT tenders: Tech for schools

The bedrock of the education system is in focus this week as provinces look to take technology to schools.

KwaZulu-Natal's education department leads the charge with five requests, four of which are targeted at ICT skills to assist schools and another for computing hardware. The Western Cape Department of Education closes this week's National Tender Bulletin awarding contracts for ICT hardware totalling R20 million for smart classrooms at 103 schools.

The services sector leads this week in its own right with multiple requests for solutions delivered as a service, training and skills development. Software requests follow with notices in the double digits and interest in high value projects, such as enterprise resource planning, emerging. The hardware sector is also well represented with demand yet to show a fall off.
