The National Tender Bulletin has yet to regain its former bulk. Nevertheless, the ICT sector retains its relative favour in this week's edition. A slew of tender awards reveals that a number of private sector organisations have been investing in the necessary infrastructure to facilitate new operating dynamics that have emerged due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
While cancellations continue to appear – this week's tally is four – tender awards are seeing an up-tick. The latest edition sees the South African Social Security Agency showing particular activity with four of the total of ten awards. These include awards for IT infrastructure, ICT advisory services and a R204 million contract with MTN for provision of WAN services. In the same vein, the Agricultural Sector Education and Training Authority will spend R2.5 million with Liquid Telecommunications for data connectivity, VPN, VoIP, and hosted PBX; while the Office of the Chief of Justice has spent R8.5 million procuring bulk ICT hardware.
As for this week's new opportunities, hardware and software lead the demand with support services often included.
