IBM acquires AptSoft

IBM has acquired Aptsoft, a privately-held maker of business intelligence (BI) software that helps companies spot emerging business trends, says InformationWeek.

IBM claims AptSoft's software can analyse tens of thousands of disparate events per second on a network to spot a trend.

"AptSoft enables customers to capture events as they happen," said Tom Rosamilia, a GM in IBM's software group.

Editor joins BI Network

Industry veteran Mary Jo Nott will join The Business Intelligence Network (BIN) as executive editor, starting 4 February 2008, according to Marketwire.

"I am delighted that Mary Jo has chosen the BIN to continue her work in the industry," said co-founder and president Ron Powell.

In her role, Nott will perform editorial duties at industry conferences and events, writing news for the network and working with experts in the industry to produce the high quality content that is the hallmark of the BIN.

CSI teams with SetFocus

Conversion Services International, a services firm focused on BI, has announced its alliance with SetFocus, which supports Microsoft professionals worldwide, says CNNMoney.

CSI has chosen to partner with SetFocus to provide training opportunities for corporate clients and BI professionals.

To launch this partnership, SetFocus will host two specialty seminars developed and delivered by William McKnight, CSI's senior VP of information management.
