Hypercom rejects buyout
Electronic payment solutions provider Hypercom says it has received and rejected an unsolicited takeover offer from rival Verifone Systems, reports Forbes.com.
The $5.25 per share cash offer from Verifone significantly undervalues Hypercom, the company claims, and is opportunistic and intended to disrupt its business.
Hypercom expects to significantly exceed Wall Street estimates of $112 million in revenue in its third quarter.
iPad gets medical e-billing app
Software-as-a-service electronic medical records vendor ClearPractice has introduced an application to allow doctors to manage their workflow on the iPad, states eWeek.
Doctors can use the iPad's WiFi or 3G network to connect to the Nimble cloud and access records.
Joel Andersen, ClearPractice's president, says: "We worked with Apple directly to further optimise the user interface.”
Partnership delivers mobile payment
UK mobile banking and payments group Monetise has entered into a partnership to supply software for Visa's new contactless payment system, says City AM.
DeviceFidelity will produce a special microSD chip that will slot into most smartphones and Monetise will produce the software to communicate with the contact points.
Analysts at Evolution Securities project medium-term revenue estimates of £15 million from the deal.
