Huawei has introduced the latest edition of the P Smart device range, the Huawei P Smart S 2020.
The new device, which comes after the Huawei P Smart 2019, caters to the needs of young consumers and includes upgraded features.
Powered by Huawei’s Kirin 710F octa-core processor, with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the phone is available for purchase locally, starting at R5 999, from MTN, Telkom Mobile operators, Huawei stores or Huawei online.
It has a 6.3-inch OLED Dewdrop Display, with a screen-to-body ratio of 90.17%, to offer a large viewing area and displaying content in fine detail and vivid colours, according to Huawei.
The device includes a 4 000mAh battery, which Huawei says can offer up to 1 000 hours of music streaming, or 5.7 hours of 3D gaming, or 13 hours of video calling, before the battery needs another recharge.
It is integrated with 3D curved edges, making the device comfortable to hold, and it comes in two colour variants: breathing crystal and midnight black.
The new midrange phone runs on Huawei Mobile Services, the Chinese telecommunications giant’s alternative to Google Mobile Services, which is now standard for all its new devices.
In terms of photography features, the smartphone’s triple camera set-up comprises a 48MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.4 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor.
All three rear cameras, according to Huawei, are capable of producing high-definition images, and adapt well to night photography, due to the high-sensitivity performance and artificial intelligence (AI) capability.
In also has a 16MP selfie camera which uses AI to provide soft lighting for selfies when shooting in low-light conditions.
