The mid-range Huawei Nova Android smartphone is officially available in SA. The 5-inch high-spec Nova is aimed at tech-savvy millennials and priced at R6 999.
The device was unveiled globally last September at IFA 2016, the annual consumer technology fair that takes place in Berlin.
One of the main selling points of the device is its longer battery life. It has a high-density battery ? 3 020mAh ? allowing the phone to last for 48 hours of normal use without charge, the company claims.
The 8MP front-facing camera has a feature that allows users to train the device to recognise their face, so that when they take a picture of someone else, the camera will pick up the owner of the phone and only apply beauty mode to their face, making them "stand out" and appear "prettier".
The 12MP rear camera has an enhanced wide-aperture lens and imaging sensor which allow it to take photos in low-light conditions.
The phone has a curved back and is designed ergonomically to fit comfortably in the user's hands, says Huawei. Other features include fast charging, a fingerprint sensor and a Snapdragon 625 processor.
The Huawei Nova will be available from all operators.
