HP will provide customers with new HP NetServer 32-way system based on Unisys CMP architecture

Unisys Corporation and Hewlett-Packard Company today announced the signing of an OEM agreement that will extend the relationship of the two companies. Under terms of the agreement, HP will market an HP NetServer 32-way system based on the Unisys Cellular MultiProcessing (CMP) server architecture.

Unisys sells CMP based servers under the Unisys e-@ction Enterprise Server ES7000 brand. Driven by Hewlett-Packard`s strong position in the standards-based server market, CMP server technology is taking another major step toward becoming a standard for large-scale, high-performance servers based on Intel and Microsoft technology.

CMP is the only server architecture to take full advantage of Microsoft`s Windows 2000 Datacenter Server operating system`s support for 32 processors. Unisys has sold HP PCs and entry-level PC servers under the "HP for Unisys" label since mid-1998.

The agreement will join the powerful and scalable Unisys CMP architecture with HP`s recognized expertise and capabilities in meeting demanding enterprise customer requirements.

Availability

The HP NetServer 32-way system is expected to be available in early 2001.
