HP unveils e-mail-enabled printer

HP has unveiled ePrint technology which allows people to print from devices that support e-mail, states Notebooks.

Each printer will have its own e-mail address, allowing documents to be e-mailed to the printer to be printed.

The solution is focused on instances where printing can be complex, as well as removing the need to require drivers installed to use the device.

GSK investigates tablet printing

GlaxoSmithKline and the University of Leeds and Durham University are working on printing active pharmaceutical ingredients onto tablets, reports Fierce Pharma Manufacturing.

The researchers are comparing the medicine droplets to ink, and are working to determine how many drops each tablet can hold and how to increase the levels of API (the component that provides pharmacological activity) within each drop.

The research concentrates on APIs that don't easily dissolve in liquid, which has complicated the printing process.

BBC signs print management partner

Stockport-based APS Group will manage the BBC's printing requirements in a contract reportedly worth more than £2 million a year, writes North West Media News.

The family-owned firm won the brief following a competitive pitch. It will handle the printing requirements for national and regional offices, including in-house staff newspaper, Ariel and the annual BBC Proms Guide.

APS managing director Nick Snelson said the company will work with existing suppliers to reduce its carbon footprint and will use an environmental impact calculator for each print job to help the BBC measure its carbon emissions.
