Hewlett-Packard Company has introduced the HP ScanJet 4100C, a colour scanner designed to make at-home scanning virtually effortless. The ScanJet 4100C scanner makes scanning easy and cost effective through the automated features of HP`s Intelligent Scanning Technology.
In addition, Universal Serial Bus (USB) connectivity, separate scan and copy buttons, and a recessed cabling design make the ScanJet 4100C perfect for the first-time, space-conscious user. The scanner is scheduled to be available locally in September 1998.

- HP`s exclusive Intelligent Scanning technology, unlike scanning technologies currently offered by competitors, automatically optimises information for photos, text and line art simultaneously so customers don`t have to learn complex settings and processes;

- intuitive software allows images to be sent directly to any application or printer the user specifies;
- push-button functionality includes a "one-of-a-kind" copy button, which allows customers to make colour copies through their personal colour printer; and

Bundled Software
ScanJet 4100C scanners ship with HP`s Precision Scan LT for one-step scanning with automated text recognition (OCR) software. In South Africa, this OCR software will be provided by Caere. The scanners include Adobe PhotoDeluxe Image Editor for enhancing photos and HP`s exclusive ScanJet Colour Copy Utility.
Availability and Warranty
The ScanJet 4100C scanner will be available in South Africa in September 1998. The scanner comes with HP Customer Care, which includes a limited 1-year warranty, 30 days of technical telephone support, and HP Express Exchange in UK, France, Norway and South Africa.
