HP intros self-service kiosks

Hewlett-Packard (HP) recently introduced a set of technology solutions targeted at retailers, including self-service kiosks, reports Zacks.com

The solutions promise an enhanced shopping experience and are aimed at customer satisfaction and retention, the company says.

According to CBR Online, these self-service kiosks use Microsoft Windows 7 Professional operating systems and integrated Virtual Sales Assistant software, which includes a set-up wizard.

The wizard enables retailers to personalise a variety of pre-developed user interfaces, upload custom assets, manage content remotely and assign locations and playlists.

The self-service kiosks are available in three configurations: wall and shelving mount; pro; and elite. Each model can be customised with additional optional accessories such as HP Digital Signage Displays, Thermal Receipt Printer, HP Imaging Barcode Scanner and HP Mini Magnetic Stripe Reader.

HP self-service kiosks are interactive solutions that engage customers with a crisp, 23-inch diagonal, 16:9 LED-backlit BrightView display or an immersive 42-inch diagonal, 1 920 x 1 080 HD touch-screen housed within a secure lockable steel enclosure, writes IEWY.com.

Retailers can place the kiosks in any customer-facing environment to run in-store promotions, provide directions or share news and product information.

These self-service kiosks are expected to be available on 23 May in the US, Canada and Latin America.
