HP boosts performance of entry-level and midrange NetServer systems with Intel`s Pentium II 450 MHz processor

HP NetServer LC 3 and LH 3 Systems Among First to Offer Latest Intel Processor Technology

Johannesburg, 23 Aug 1998

Hewlett-Packard Company has announced that two of its award-winning NetServer products, the LC 3 and LH 3, are now available with Intel`s Pentium II 450 MHz processor.

"HP is immediately upgrading the performance of roughly half of the NetServer family with the integration of Intel`s new processor, and we are among the first major vendors to do it," said Thierry Boulanger, HP marketing manager, PCs and networking. "This once again demonstrates HP`s commitment to provide timely access to the latest processor technology to both our channel partners and customers."

The HP NetServer LC 3 and LH 3 systems both utilise Intel`s Pentium II technology to provide superior performance. Dubbed as a reliable departmental workhorse, the NetServer LH 3 system has achieved the fastest uni-processor SpecWeb benchmark of all Intel-based servers on the market with 1,432 Web operations per second. The HP NetServer LC 3, introduced on June 15, 1998, has gained widespread industry recognition for its integration of high-availability solutions.

The complete family of HP NetServer systems consists of two distinct lines of Intel-based servers. The HP NetServer L Series systems are designed as enterprise application, workgroup or departmental servers. The HP NetServer E Series systems are the first line of servers designed for small and medium businesses. All HP NetServer systems come equipped with HP TopTools for servers, an intuitive Web-based management tool, and HP`s service and support through highly trained HP resellers or HP`s own support organisation.

HP is the official information-technology hardware and maintenance supplier to the 1998 World Cup soccer tournament.

Hewlett-Packard Company is a leading global provider of computing, Internet and intranet solutions, services, communications products and measurement solutions, all of which are recognised for excellence in quality and support.
