HP boosts BI services

HP has unveiled a suite of business intelligence (BI) services in support of environments running the SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse, states Market Watch.

These enable clients to store large volumes of data on a single system and to reduce their hardware footprint.

Despite efforts to manage and use information effectively, many customers have not realised the full potential of their BI investments.

Carefx snags software marketing rights

Carefx, a developer of healthcare and patient information systems, has been granted a licence to market and develop BI dashboard software, says Techrockies.

The firm says the BI dashboard software was developed by IntellisEPM, a start-up spun out of the Cleveland Clinic.

The software is used to track medical centre performance, including mortality, physician scorecards, throughput, and patient experience.

SAP, Sybase merger benefits SMEs

Small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) looking to use BI tools will benefit from the SAP acquisition of Sybase, according to technology analysts, writes IT Business Online.

The collaboration could lower the entry cost for smaller firms rolling out analytics tools to employees and executives, says Shawn Rogers, VP, BI practices at Enterprise Management Associates.

The Sybase buy, he predicts, will lead to more flexible and affordable business applications being developed for the mobile user.
