The Printronix Auto-ID T8000 Thermal Printer with ODV-2D is the industry's first affordable, fully integrated solution with the ability to print and validate 1D and 2D bar codes.
In addition to several other 1D and 2D bar codes, the ODV-2D now supports QR bar codes. QR codes are emerging as one of the most popular types of 2D bar codes and are being used in a variety of applications across multiple industries.
As companies struggle to meet industry requirements for bar code compliance, many businesses are looking to verify bar code quality on their labels before they enter the supply chain to eliminate bar code errors, refused shipments, and costly fines, says Frikkie Koegelenberg, CCO at Roan Systems.
Current technology is predominantly limited to validating 1D bar codes, so, without ODV-2D, companies are unable to integrate the latest improvements and innovations from the bar code industry. That is why the ODV-2D offers a breakthrough in technology, because it has the ability to validate both 1D and 2D bar codes from a single, affordable, integrated unit. The best part? This solution is affordable and can be depended on to deliver 100% accurate bar codes.
Labels are printed, scanned, and bar codes graded based on ISO standards. If a bar code is rejected, the printer will retract and strike-through the entire label and reprint a new label. When used in conjunction with Printronix PrintNet Enterprise remote manage tool, companies can generate a "print-job" report that includes the quality and grade of each bar code printed. These reports can then be used to prove the integrity of each label as it leaves the point of origin and enters the supply chain, potentially saving companies thousands of dollars in non-compliance fines or enabling them to meet regulatory requirements for bar code quality.
