South African group Enterprise Connection has officially launched its subsidiary, Hansen SA, in a bid to provide enterprise solutions to local and provincial government.

Hansen SA was set up as a division of Enterprise Connection, following a year-long partnership between the South African company and US-based Hansen Information Technologies.

Hansen supplies application software that facilitates the management of government operations and provides secure access to back-office functions.

Headed by MD Mncedisi Mayekiso, Hansen SA plans to target local and provincial government departments, having already secured partnerships with 15 local government clients, including Johannesburg Roads Agency and Johannesburg Water.

"I`m sure that government will come on board, and I am confident that we will be able to announce some of our big wins soon," Mayekiso told ITWeb on the sidelines of the launch.

"So far, the response from local government has been overwhelming."

He said Hansen SA`s long-term goal is to not only provide solutions to local and provincial governments in SA, but also to distribute, deploy and support Hansen technologies in the rest of Africa, in line with the goals and objectives of the New Partnership for Africa`s Development.

Hansen Information Technologies MD Bob Benstead, who was in SA for the Hansen SA launch, said the new company would build on the product deployments already carried out during the earlier partnership between Hansen and Enterprise Connection in SA.
