Gustav Smit, CEO of Dark Fibre Africa hands over the torch.

Gustav Smit founded DFA about nine years ago and has grown the company to the extent that today, it employs over 400 people and has built out an open access fibre network of more than 9 000km.

During his tenure at DFA, the company has been highly successful in all of its endeavours and has surpassed the original business plan manifold over. Smit has decided the DFA foundation that was built is extremely strong now, and the time has come to retire from DFA.

He will leave DFA at the end of June 2016. The board wishes to thank Smit for his leadership and the major role he has played in developing DFA into a significant participant in the telecoms industry.

The board is pleased to announce the appointment of Thinus Mulder as CEO of DFA. Mulder, as CFO, has played a major role in the development of DFA over the last eight years, and will take over from 1 July 2016.
