Gold Circle Racing invests R1m in DataVoice recording solutions from Spescom DataFusion

Johannesburg, 11 Oct 2006

Gold Circle Racing has invested R1m in DataVoice recording solutions from Spescom DataFusion.

Gold Circle is the licensed horseracing and betting operator in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape. The company promotes horseracing, wagering on racing and entertainment at race meetings in the two regions, through a wide range of media.

Gold Circle purchased the DataVoice Orion rofessional call recording solution to perform business critical call recording in its telephone betting centre and back office environment. The telephone betting centre in Durban offers punters throughout South Africa the convenience of placing their bets by telephone. Voice recordings are used for verification in the event of a dispute over bets.

On the day of the Vodacom Durban July this year, operators at the telephone betting centre took 56 612 calls, resulting in a total of 116 080 bets being placed.

Spescom DataFusion MD, Paul Fick, says the gaming house required a quick call search facility plus increased online storage.

"The recording solution provides 24,000 hours of on-line storage which means that Gold Circle will be able to store 4.8 months worth of recordings on-line.

"These calls are instantly available and only if calls are older than 4.8 months will you need to search for them on the long term DVD storage", concludes Fick.

The DataVoice Orion Professional call recording solution forms a critical part of Gold Circle business. It will be used to verify bets placed by telephone and to resolve disputes regarding claimed discrepancies, thus providing the vital proof needed to ensure the integrity of the telephone betting system.
