No more chair or couch potato: A new wireless joystick will prompt computer gamers to get off their seats and move around without interrupting their game playing.

Genius, a manufacturer of computer peripherals and consumer electronics, recently released a wireless PC games controller.

The Wizard Stick Wireless Motion Joystick connects to PCs via a tiny receiver, which plugs into any USB 2.0 socket, enabling users to get up from their chairs and throw some full-bodied fun into their gaming.

The Wizard Stick lets users take control of games and apps simply by moving it through the air, while it still functions as a standard game control pad. Users can simulate various sporting movements by swinging the remote as if it were a racquet, baseball bat or golf club, and turning it as if it were a steering wheel. The joystick can be used in air mouse mode, which allows users to move the cursor around the screen in any Windows application.

Those who don't actually own any motion games for PC when buying the controller can still get a feel for the device. The Wizard Stick package includes Sega's Virtua Tennis 2009 game, to get players into the proverbial swing of things. The device includes the AIWI gaming platform, which gives users access to 16 flash games to play on the AIWI Web site.

With the downloadable AIWI software, users can even turn their iPhones, Android handsets or iPod Touch devices into additional wireless motion controllers.

At 134g, the Wizard Stick is lightweight, making it comfortable to use for extended gaming sessions. For the price tag of R896 (at e-tailer Takealot), buyers will get a wrist strap, two AA batteries, the Sega gaming CD, the AIWI setup CD, a gaming manual and some much-needed exercise.
