Exhibitions for Africa, the organiser of Futurex 2005, says Futurex will be "co-located" with the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo at the Sandton Convention Centre in May. A three-day conference forms part of Futurex 2005 and will focus on the latest technology and topical ICT issues.
"LinuxWorld is a global event that takes place in over 14 countries. Co-locating with LinuxWorld will add a new dimension to an already successful ICT event in SA," says Aldean Prior, Exhibitions for Africa director.
"We decided to co-locate the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo with Futurex when we were in negotiations with the International Data Group. It was also Novell`s decision to run Brainshare at Futurex and LinuxWorld," says Prior.
Prior guarantees that the exhibition will not result in overtrading. "LinuxWorld is after all a Linux and open source event where many companies will talk about their offerings, and Brainshare purely covers Novell.
"Brainshare will be attended by existing Novell customers and partners. LinuxWorld aims to bring together all the industry leaders to deliver a comprehensive educational programme designed to meet the technology needs of IT professionals, developers and business executives," says Prior.
"This year`s event is expected to attract between 15 000 and 20 000 visitors. There will be approximately 300 exhibitors participating in the event and we expect 10% to 15% to be international. Hot topics for this year are information security, wireless technology and VOIP," she says.
This year, Futurex will focus on information and communications technology products and solutions. LinuxWorld will cater for open source professionals and those who are interested in Linux and open source technologies.
"The conference programme consists of topics that present solutions to real business problems using Linux and open source technologies. Participants will learn about the most current and critical topics impacting Linux and open source technologies," says Prior.
There will be a line-up of international and local speakers including a keynote address by Jon Hall, director of Linux International.
