Fulcrum Business Solutions, a leading player in the Microsoft enterprise project management arena, has recently completed the delivery of an enterprise project management (EPM) solution for ECOSERV, SA`s leading environmental and occupational hygiene consulting business.
A key deliverable in the EPM solution was to improve project management efficiency through providing a central view of the status of any project across the enterprise at any given time. The Internet-based system developed allows staff members at the Durban, Johannesburg, Richards Bay and Cape Town offices to access the network and co-ordinate tasks. This enables ECOSERV to meet its commitment to running well-ordered and expeditious projects.
ECOSERV identified a problem with scheduling 18 months ago as the complexities of its business grew. "We saw it as a critical issue to manage and schedule our projects better," says Quentin Hurt, ECOSERV MD. "Project management was and is done manually but it is time-consuming and is reliant on meetings and individual communication. We realised we needed software that would give us more insight, control and visibility.
"The new centralised solution, implemented by Fulcrum, consolidates all the schedules and the different project requirements and gives us an overview of where we are and where the problem areas will be in terms of timing and equipment," concluded Hurt.
Fulcrum Group CEO Andre Wolmarans believes ECOSERV has made a wise choice. "The EPM solution is invaluable when an organisation is running multiple projects and wants project visibility and control at all times," explains Wolmarans.
The EPM solution delivered is Microsoft-based, which allowed Fulcrum to leverage the existing Windows infrastructure ECOSERV already had in place to give it a comprehensive solution to ensure maximum return on investment. In addition, about 80% of the project management tool users are Microsoft Project-based, which makes the user interface familiar and also reduces training costs.
