Fujitsu unveils thin client models

Fujitsu Siemens Computers recently unveiled its new thin client models, with innovative design and extended functionality. The FUTRO product line was developed specially for host-based applications such as data entry or database queries, but it is equally suited for e-mail and office applications.

The systems are aimed at customers in the server-based computing sector for whom low total cost of ownership, space savings and high security are key considerations.

The FUTRO combines the best qualities of PC and terminal in a single system. Windows applications can be used via the ICA (Independent Computer Architecture) protocol or via RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) without having to store or install applications locally on the system. The applications run on the server.

FUTRO B100 - the lightweight version

Weighing in at a mere 700g and with its compact PicoTower housing (186 x 67 x 168 mm), the FUTRO B100 meets all the requirements for typical terminal operators in multi-user computing environments. In terms of energy consumption, the system`s power-saving components make it extremely economical, while heat dissipation levels are also low. The absence of a fan makes the FUTRO B100 exceptionally quiet. The innovative design incorporates connections on the front for keyboard and mouse as well as for two USB connections. The thin client runs under embedded Linux and can be ordered as a pre-configured unit.

FUTRO D100 - the versatile version

This system can be used as a thin client all the way up to a Java-based network terminal. When equipped with a hard disk and external drives, the FUTRO D100 can also be expanded into a fully-fledged PC. The graded processor concept is geared to the requirements of IT managers keen to configure the whole terminal and PC environment with a uniform architecture and standard housing. The FUTRO D100 can be ordered either with embedded Linux or with a hard disk with Windows XP Embedded or a full operating system.
