Fujitsu offers USB zero client

Fujitsu is planning to offer a version of its zero client computing platform on a USB memory stick, notes V3.co.uk.

The company says the portable zero client MZ900 system would place the zero client software on a read-only partition of the disc, which would allow users to run any PC as a hosted workstation.

The software on the thumb drives allows computers to remotely access virtualised workstation images on any PC with a network connection, the company says.

Network to boost real-time consultations

Starting next month, doctors at Mid Coast Hospital will be able to transmit CT scans to neurologists at Maine Medical Centre in Portland and have real-time consultations over a secure network called Telestroke, says Portland Press Herald.

This advance in telemedicine is an example of the communication benefits expected to come from the Three Ring Binder, a 1 100-mile highway of high-speed Internet lines being strung around Maine.

The first five miles of the fibre-optic network are now live along Route One, and Mid Coast Hospital is the first so-called anchor institution to hook up.

Korenix unveils high-speed switch

Korenix has released the new JetNet 3710G series Industrial POE switch with 8 POE and 2Gb ports specifically designed for large-scale surveillance and video networking applications where high-speed connectivity is required for megapixel video transmission, writes Security Park.
