Analyst firm Ovum released its annual `Holway@Ovum Market Trends` report for 2005, which is considered by many to be the definitive source of analysis, opinion and comment on the UK software and IT services market.
The report states that Fujitsu`s excellent growth in 2004/5 has had a positive impact on its position in the rankings. The report rates Fujitsu:
* Third in outsourcing in the UK, from 4th place last year, leapfrogging IBM.
* Third out of the top 50 in IT services in the UK , a climb of two places from 5th position last year.
* Fourth out of the top 50 suppliers of SITS (IT services and software) in the UK.
Fujitsu Services` performance in 2004/04 was strong, with revenue growth of over 14%, thanks to some major wins in both the government and commercial sectors. Fujitsu Services` profit also increased from lb50.4 to lb85 million.
As part of Fujitsu Japan, the world`s third largest IT vendor, the company is capitalising on its ability to draw on the extensive pool of expertise and resources of the global group. This has been of particular benefit in its other European operations as well as the South African subsidiary which recently completed large operations management project for South African Airways using skilled staff from the Indian subsidiary.
