Fintech company ChatFin has enabled a service that allows South Africans to renew their vehicle licence over WhatsApp.
The new service is powered by Infobip, an omnichannel customer engagement company. Infobip’s proprietary messaging platform connects to over 800 telecoms networks worldwide. Its enablement of WhatsApp Business API lets consumers communicate with businesses over WhatsApp using applications such as ChatBack.
WhatsApp, used by 1.6 billion people in over 180 countries, is the world’s most used chat app.
The vehicle licence renewal service runs on ChatFin’s recently introduced ChatBackapplication, which integrates with WhatsApp Business API via an integration point provided by Infobip.
South African car owners can renew their vehicle licence over WhatsApp, 24 hours a day. The renewal process, completed in partnership with existing queueing companies, takes less than two minutes. The ChatBack renewal service costs R199, which includes delivery; the licence disc is delivered within five working days to the address provided.
“ChatBack was specifically built to offer an experience over WhatsApp, with the aim of taking away some of the frustrating tasks that people have to deal with on a daily basis,” says Jan Kotzé, ChatFin CEO.
Craig Greenwood Selby, Infobip’s MD in South Africa, says the ChatFin service `opens up a brand-new market for ‘convenience’ in South Africa’.
“We see many use cases for WhatsApp Business API, but we are always on the lookout for those that are special and can change people’s lives,” he adds.
To sign up for the service, you can start the process in WhatsApp, visit the ChatBack website or add ChatBack(+27 66 202 6685)to your contacts, and text ‘renew’ over WhatsApp.
