First National Bank (FNB) has forged a partnership with Incredible Connection, enabling the big four bank to provide free ADSL modem router installations to qualifying customers.

FNB is encouraging its Connect customers to switch to its Internet service provider (ISP), with the lure of free ADSL installations. The offer, effective as of today and for a minimum of three months - depending on demand - is limited to FNB clients who are current FNB Connect customers, or who would like to sign up.

This follows an announcement earlier this month that FNB would give certain customers up to 5GB of free data following the 30% IP Connect reduction, and sees the bank's in-house ISP, FNB Connect, partner with Incredible Connection's Incredibles OnSite to up its ISP presence.

FNB data product owner Stephan Bothma says the collaboration with Incredibles OnSite gives the bank the opportunity to “tap into their extensive technical expertise and national footprint”. Bothma says the partnership was formed in a bid to encourage FNB customers to select FNB Connect as their ISP of choice by making it convenient for them.

Stefan Marnewick, acting CEO of Incredible Connection, says the company is in a unique position to support FNB Connect. “The installation of these routers and wireless networks could be very tricky. This is where Incredibles OnSite will step in and remove the hassle factor by doing the installation for you.”

Bothma says the bank anticipates a significant take up, with many “switching of non-FNB clients” as a result of the partnership and ADSL service offering.
