Mobile content provider Exactmobile is for sale and has been in negotiations with a potential buyer for some time now, a company spokesman has confirmed.
The negotiations began six months ago, says Gavin Penkin, entertainment services portal director.
Penkin would not disclose the reason the company is being sold or the identity of the potential buyer. The company, he says, will make an announcement if the sale goes through.
Founded in March 2000, Exactmobile claims to operate the largest mobile entertainment portal in SA, servicing eight million customers locally.
The group says it has a database of over 700 000 items - ranging from ringtones to mobile games - with 100 million items delivered to customers to date.
Exactmobile also offers services in eight African countries.
