Esquire Technologies, the award-winning broad-based distributor - including technology, digital lifestyle, consumer and mobile products - has acquired a substantial stake in digital film and video company, FilmChrome, for an undisclosed sum.
This was confirmed by Esquire's CEO Mahomed Cassim, who said FilmChrome - also an expert in producing corporate and marketing videos - will be "100% absorbed and based at Esquire's head office in Midrand.
"This brings a new dimension to our overall marketing drive - and our drive to make the lives of more than 12 500 resellers much easier. With FilmChrome, we will be designing and creating video clips on our product ranges - and will be providing these clips to our resellers, including the Virtual Reseller Network (VRN) Web sites," said Cassim.
Industry-first
"This is indeed a first for the South African industry. Rather than only supplying static posters and banners, we will be able to provide live presentations and recordings, making the products come alive by showing characteristics and features in a video form. We believe this extra flair will accelerate the sale of products sold by Esquire resellers and VRN Web sites."
Cassim added that the VRN project has thus far cost R10 million and over eight years to develop and is the world's first.
"We have just completed the construction of a fully-fledged film studio and soundproof room at our head office in Midrand, which will be used for making video clips of our products," said Cassim.
Michael Berg, General Manager of FilmChrome, said he is "extremely excited" to join the Esquire team.
"While we will function as a division within Esquire, we will leverage off their tried-and-tested business processes, take advantage of their business acumen and expand our business by focusing on ways and means to engage more meaningfully with the company's 12 500 reseller base - one of the largest in the country. Given this, we believe we will be able to grow to new heights - at the same time benefiting the overall group."
