Equra Health is an oncology services provider with a large number of users spread throughout South Africa. The company needed a centrally controlled solution to help manage content and share information in an easy-to-use format.
The value offered by a system which enables more effective collaboration was identified early on, as part of a drive to reduce 'organisational disconnectedness', a common occurrence in geographically dispersed organisations.
What was less apparent was a number of secondary benefits realised by putting in place more than simply a document management tool - these benefits include users feeling more empowered and engaged with the company.
The move to SharePoint Online presented an opportunity for the project team to rapidly develop the solution while still gathering requirements from the users. In addition, going to the cloud removed the burden of SharePoint infrastructure management from the Equra IT team's shoulders, freeing up time for more valuable activities.
During this project, the bSOLVe team met with all user groups in the business; from senior management to end users who work with the actual content on a daily basis. Findings and recommendations were brought back to management to better understand informational and process challenges. A greater amount of buy-in was also achieved by involving the users to arrive at new solutions together. Showing users how the platform worked during the development process allowed them to envisage the changes better, which also reduced the need for basic training after go-live (with most users attending training sessions already practised).
