Epicor Software Corporation, the largest provider of integrated enterprise and eBusiness software exclusively for midmarket companies, today announced the general availability of Epicor eProcurement, powered by Clarus (

).
The release marks a milestone in midmarket eProcurement solutions, as one of the first to deliver the back office integration that companies like MarketWatch.com, eLink Communications and Zebu demand.
Epicor`s eProcurement is a business-to-business electronic procurement solution that directly connects buyers and suppliers of goods and services via the Internet, reducing the time and capital costs of traditional procurement processes. Unlike most midmarket eProcurement solutions, Epicor eProcurement offers tight-knit integration between eProcurement and back office functions, speeding the implementation process for Epicor customers.
With Epicor eProcurement, users also benefit from the ability to quickly enter, track and authorize an order while enforcing corporate contract pricing and procedures. For midsize companies aiming to gain and improve control of critical operational resources, Epicor eProcurement is one of the few available robust and accessible procurement products.
Indirect procurement-the requisitioning of goods and services-is an increasingly popular application choice, mainly due to the compelling returns received from the implementation, according to the AMR Report on eCommerce. AMR estimates that both the indirect and direct procurement segments reached $288 million in 1999, with indirect procurement alone growing 84 percent.
MarketWatch.com, an existing customer of Epicor`s eBackOffice solutions and operator of the leading financial news Website CBSMarketWatch.com, is currently deploying Epicor`s eProcurement solution to automate purchasing in its 13 offices worldwide.
"Epicor eProcurement will enable us to streamline and integrate our entire procurement process," said Joe Brichler, controller of MarketWatch. "Because purchasing information will flow directly into the back office, we will be able to boost employee efficiency while at the same time lowering purchase-order processing costs."
"Internet-based procurement offers considerable benefits to midmarket companies based on the significant cost savings and productivity gains it brings," said Mollie Hunter, vice president of product marketing for Epicor.
"Epicor eProcurement`s complete integration with back office systems should enable companies to realize a return on investment more quickly than many of the procurement products currently available to midmarket firms."
Epicor eProcurement is slated to be integrated across most of Epicor`s products as a Web commerce component to enable organizations to better manage their operational resources worldwide.
