Engineering Informatics and CSIPER form strategic partnership to supply sap-based engineering solutions

Johannesburg, 31 May 1999

Two South African companies with wide experience of different aspects of SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation have formed a strategic partnership to expand the range of services offered to the fast-growing community of SAP users.

CSIPER Consulting, a SAP Southern Africa Logo Partner with a global presence in the ERP market, has been involved in broad-based SAP implementation and integration since 1990, including major undertakings in Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America as well as South Africa.

Engineering Informatics has built its business on delivering SAP-based product data management (PDM) and document management systems (DMS) for the engineering, manufacturing and process industries.

Explaining the reason for the partnership, Engineering Informatics director Werner Simpson said: "Traditional ERP implementations are focused on financials, materials, production planning and plant maintenance. There has not been a similar focus on the engineering side of the business. Because of this, many so-called ERP systems are not implemented across the whole enterprise.

"With the new PDM and DMS tools that are available, we can, in partnership with CSIPER, add value to new and existing SAP implementations, thus enabling clients to get more value from their SAP investment."

CSIPER`s commercial director, Ernst van Schalkwyk, said the partnership reinforces his company`s commitment to operating, where appropriate, in alliance with other professionals who share its business ethos.

"No single company has all the knowledge and expertise needed to maximise every aspect of ERP for every SAP user but, through partnerships such as this, we are able to provide our clients with sustainable total integrated business solutions that enable continuous business improvements."

Engineering Informatics is the exclusive Southern African agent for a number of software products, including SAP implementation tools from Bentley Systems of the USA, Computervision AG of Switzerland and Germany`s Atos Industrie Software Service GmbH.

"These are world-class products that we can bundle as part of an enterprise-wide SAP R/3 solution," said Simpson. "While our engineers are from a plant design and processing background, all are SAP-certified R/3 consultants, so we bring a lot of knowledge and experience to bear on providing solutions in this vital area."
