Ekurhuleni West College for Further Education and Training, with an annual enrolment in excess of 12 000 students, announced its decision to implement a wide range of system modules from Integrated Tertiary Software (Pty) Ltd, the Pretoria-based company that provides software and related services to the education sector.
The systems selected for initial implementation includes functionality to support the management of students, student billing, financial, human resources, payroll and library services. Implementation of the software has already started, the aim being to register students on the new system during April 2004.
"Since the merging process of six formally known technical colleges began three years ago, Ekurhuleni West College (EWC) investigated several possible administrative systems. Our aim was to implement a reliable, integrated solution utilising an industry-standard database to support the administrative processes of the college. The ITS Administrative system proved to accommodate every aspect of the college environment without the need to invest in separate software packages," said Mr Mtshisa, Principal of EWC.
"In our strive towards excellence we need systems that will enable us to reach our goals. The ITS system fully supports the decentralised campus structure and online integrated management information on the college as a whole can be proved in real-time mode. Statutory information, including the management of student marks in conjunction with the Department of Education is provided by the system.
"It is with great pleasure and relief that Ekurhuleni West College welcome ITS to our fold and we are proud to say we have found a company that exactly knows the needs, current limitations and shortcomings of the college. With their sound experience in the education sector we are confident that the company will provide the support that is required to realise our goals in the foreseeable future," he concluded.
ITS is a South African company that was established in 1986. The company currently provides software and related services to all technikons and has a market share of more than 70% of higher education institutions in SA.
"ITS is proud that EWC, one of the largest merged FET colleges in SA, chose our software to support their business processes," said Frans van den Berg, Marketing Manager for ITS.
"During discussions with EWC over the last three years the company gained valuable insight of this market sector. Their software needs are similar to that of our current client base. The software will be deployed on a central server, with each campus linked to the server. Data will be managed on campus level, while the system architecture will allow for reporting on campus and college level.
"ITS introduced annual licensing as a additional option in this market sector. This will allow colleges to utilise the system without an upfront capital investment. Modular pricing will also assist institutions to implement core systems in the initial phase, adding new system modules as and when needed," concluded Van den Berg.
