SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group and the southern African enterprise partner for eEye Digital Security, today announced the appointment of Ross Brown as chief operating officer.
In this role, Brown will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of eEye, as well as the planning and execution for all of eEye's global sales and marketing activities.
Reporting to Firas Bushnaq, eEye's co-founder and CEO, Brown is tasked with expanding eEye's global sales and field operations and sharpening its focus on the channel.
"Ross is the perfect fit for eEye, as he has the precise mix of experience that we need at this important stage of our growth," commented Bushnaq. "Ross brings to eEye a wealth of channel experience and a successful track record in the arena of sales, channel development and product marketing. His experience in growing global sales and channel programmes will enable eEye to accelerate its already considerable momentum in both new and established markets."
Recognised in the industry as a thought leader in channel marketing, Brown has been named to CRN Magazine's annual list of 'channel chiefs' for the last two years. With over 14 years of experience, Brown has developed and executed major programmes for companies including GE, Imation, Microsoft, Nortel Networks and Verizon. Brown most recently served as vice-president of worldwide sales and channel operations at Citrix Systems, a leader in access infrastructure solutions, where he was responsible for global pricing and licensing, field sales readiness, channel programs and policies, and global sales operations.
In addition to Brown's experience with Citrix, he has held management and leadership positions with MSI Consulting Group, Network Associates, IBM Corporation and Tech Data Corporation. He also founded Sound Consulting, a leading market consultancy. Brown earned a Bachelor of Science in organisational communications from the University of Central Florida.
Unlike many major security software vendors, which are beginning to compete with their channel partners by building managed services and value-added practices, eEye plans to continue its strategy of arming its channel partners with the industry-leading software and security expertise necessary to successfully compete in the crowded enterprise security market. Brown's appointment is a critical element in this strategy.
"It is clear that businesses are making a major shift toward proactive security technologies such as vulnerability management and intrusion prevention," said Brown.
"eEye's award-winning product portfolio, extensive list of Fortune 500 customers and world-renowned research team have made it a leader in enabling this transformation. I look forward to working with eEye and its channel partners to leverage this technology leadership into customer solutions that put proactive security at the heart of their network infrastructure."
