Specialist software and services company DVT has appointed former Paracon account manager Shirley Morse as its new business unit head for supplementary resourcing in Cape Town.

With extensive experience in people management, individual as well as business coaching, including the establishment of her own life skills training company, Shide Consulting, Morse brings with her marketing and business development skills to help expand DVT's business beyond its core focus areas.

"I feel like I have a whole box of new toys to play with," Morse jokes. "Seriously though, my real passion is helping to keep people off the streets by empowering them for the competitive working world, and in DVT, I've found a company of like-minded individuals that gives me the tools I need to do just that.

"DVT has a good name in the market and is particularly strong in its core areas of software development and services," she adds. "I'm here to unearth new business opportunities outside these areas, and from what I've seen so far, the local market is ripe with opportunities. It all comes down to finding the right people and helping them grow and succeed in their new roles."

"DVT is constantly challenged by its clients to deliver on staffing requirements that fall outside the core technology services that we provide," says Jacques Fouch'e, DVT Cape managing director. "Shirley's primary role is to establish a capability in DVT to service these requirements, but to ultimately incubate new competencies in her business unit that will, over time, shift into the core technology services provided by DVT."

Morse has more than 24 years' management experience encompassing housing, training, mail order and life assurance leadership positions, comprising all aspects of the foundations of management at an operational and strategic level.

Prior to Paracon, she was part of the in-house training team at Old Mutual, where she became one of the select few individuals to acquire a licence to facilitate the 'Investment in Excellence' programme, which was part of the Group's training strategy.

Morse holds an MBA from Oxford Brookes University in the UK.
