Domains.co.za is selling new African gTLD registrations for only R30

Domains.co.za, the well-know domain name registrar and hosting company, in conjunction with the Registry, has announced a dramatic reduction in its African geographic Top Level Domain (gTLD) names until 31 March 2019. Dot africa, dot joburg, dot capetown and dot.durban, which normally cost between R260 and R360 per domain name registration, will now sell at just R30 (including VAT).

Last year, Absa became the first big corporate company in SA to take up the dot Africa domain name. "It's a brave new world out there, with Africans embracing their pan-African identities, challenging traditional business norms and seeking to develop and implement revolutionary ways in which to compete within the digital space," Lucky Masilela, Registry Africa CEO, said in a statement.

Recently, the intellectual property and commercial law firm, Adams & Adams, became one of the newest businesses to switched over to a dot Africa domain name extension. The change reportedly supports the company's African heritage and identity, as the company has representation in over 15 countries on the continent.

"In every country in Africa, the opportunities for growth and development are tremendous. But it's not just these facts that I believe are making companies excited about the continent," says Domains.co.za CEO Wayne Diamond. "Africa is vibrant, multicultural and highly diverse with around 1 500 different languages spoken over the continent. I believe companies are proud to be associated with Africa. The uptake of dot Africa gTLDs by large corporates is certainly a good indication of this."

South African city gTLDs are also doing very well, especially with businesses that offer services to a more local target audience. Businesses in the services and hospitality industries are particularly registering a city domain name. So far, .capetown registrations are in the lead.

"African gTLDs not only connect African businesses with African audiences, but it also offers businesses a wider variety of domain names still available to choose from," adds Diamond.

The R30 African gTLD promotion will run until 31 March 2019 and aims to connect more of SA's top entrepreneurs, businesses and start-ups with the continent or city they work in. However, at this affordable price, entrepreneurs with good business ideas should register the domain name at their earliest convenience.

Domains.co.za also offers these and other domain names free when customers sign up for a Web site builder package or Web hosting package. The company recently launched its new Epyc VPS Hosting packages boasting the AMD EPYC Platform.
