Dimension Data company Auto-Mate is in the midst of a rationalisation procedure. Auto-Mate management says the job cuts are isolated and not indicative of overall group strategy.
John Kumleben, MD of the automotive software company, today confirmed restructuring and rationalisation at the firm, but says it is limited to Auto-Mate and not part of a greater DiData group strategy.
"There is no finalisation on the extent of our restructuring process, but in all rationalisation procedures we will be looking at our consultants first. I can, however, say that this is restricted to our company and not part of group procedure," says Kumleben.
According to Kumleben, there has been no slowdown in the industry and the company is busy with a full roll-out for Unitrans and Barlows.
However, he says the rationalisation and restructuring of the company is still a necessity.
DiData acquired Systems Programming, the parent company of Auto-Mate, in 1997. The company now specialises in dealer management systems for the automotive industry, including customer relationship management, vehicle sales and inventory management.
Auto-Mate has a presence in Africa, Europe and Asia, and launched its Auto-Mate for Windows software globally in 1996.
Meanwhile, parent company DiData`s share shed some of yesterday`s gains in early morning trade today, dropping 90c on its opening price to trade at R31.90 by 11am, which amounts to R44.5 million worth of trade.
