Systems integrator Dimension Data Middle East and Africa (MEA) has appointed Werner Kapp as chief executive officer, effective from 1 April.

This follows the resignation of long-serving Grant Bodley, who has been with the company for over 20 years. Bodley’s resignation is effective 31 March.

In a statement, Dimension Data says Kapp has been with the company for just over 20 years and has been the systems integrator’s chief operating officer since 2015.

The leadership change comes soon after the company recently brought its four brands of Dimension Data, Internet Solutions, Britehouse and ContinuitySA together into a single operating entity, trading under the Dimension Data name.

In this role, Dimension Data says Kapp has been instrumental in delivering integrated solutions to clients across the MEA region.

According to the firm, his appointment is part of Dimension Data’s succession plan, which is designed to ensure business continuity and growth.

Dimension Data notes Bodley has been with Dimension Data for over 20 years and has spent the last six years as CEO.

Over his tenure, the company says Bodley has achieved many successes, including enduring client, people and partner relationships, combined with significant revenue and profitability growth.

He leaves the company in great shape to continue successful delivery of financial and strategic objectives, it adds.

Bodley will stay on beyond 31 March for a few months to work closer with Kapp to ensure a smooth transition.

“I’m thrilled to be taking on the new role of CEO and look forward to progressing our leadership position in IT services across the region,” Kapp says.

“I am especially excited about our One Dimension Data operating model, as I believe it is a critical part of our differentiation in the market and a key to ensuring the work we do with our clients across the organisation drives solutions-focused thinking and delivery.”

Kapp started in the IT industry in the mid-1990s and joined Dimension Data in 2000, in its services division. He was responsible for the Eastern Cape, Western Cape and Gauteng regions. Over that time and in these roles, he gained vast experience in client, revenue and people management, says Dimension Data.

It notes Kapp is passionate about the impact technology can have on economic and social growth across the region and he has always enjoyed working in diverse teams and cultures.

“As a committed and active corporate citizen, we will continue to work on delivering on our part in the economic and social transformation of all the countries we operate in,” he adds.

Werner has a law degree from the Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, a Master’s in Business Leadership from the UNISA School of Business, and completed the NTT Global Leadership Development Programme at IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland.

“I will personally miss Grant as a leader and a friend; I respect and support his decision and will forever value his contribution to our business,” says Kapp.
