Dell`s PC support deal renewed
Dell signed a one-year contract with the state of Pennsylvania worth up to $23 million to supply desktops, notebooks, monitors and related services. The contract is expected to save the state $8.2 million, the company said.
The state first contracted with Dell in 2004 to supply computer products and services, and has seen more than $38.2 million in annual savings in computer costs as compared to before 2004, reports gcn.com.
Dell offers volume pricing to Pennsylvania state agencies, state-affiliated organisations and other groups that spend public funds to purchase technology products and services.
Entertainment software for HP`s PCs
Digital home solutions provider CyberLink, has announced that its video, audio and TV technologies are integrated into the entertainment software in the latest HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario desktop and notebook PCs.
Consumer Electronicsnet reports that CyberLink`s technology provides access to DVDs, music, pictures and videos through an enhanced version of QuickPlay, which is available on HP notebooks.
Select HP desktop PCs are available with CyberLink`s PowerCinema, an all-in-one entertainment centre that allows access to DVDs, music, pictures and video along with TV features for viewing live TV, pausing and watching recorded TV.
Vodafone delivers 3G broadband laptops
Lenovo in Australia has announced the availability of Vodafone`s 3G mobile broadband connectivity on selected high-end notebooks.
Customers in 3G coverage areas will be able to get 384Kbps and, later this year, 1.6Mbps access to the net, without the need to use external mobile data cards, reports itwire.com.
Hastings Singh, national channel manager at Vodafone Australia says, "Lenovo`s latest generation ThinkPads with embedded 3G mobile broadband connectivity gives business people access to everything they need at high speed - e-mail, Internet and business applications - anywhere within 3G coverage areas. Data access is also available in Vodafone`s GPRS coverage areas."
