Novell today announced that Dell will offer Novell`s Linux software services to its enterprise customers. Novell recently announced its plan to provide customers the choice of running all of Novell`s advanced network services for business - including NetWare services - on the Linux server operating system, and Novell Nterprise Linux Services is an early delivery in that plan.
Novell`s Nterprise Linux Services give customers file, print, messaging, directory and management services in an integrated package that runs and will be supported on Red Hat Linux and SuSE Linux distributions. Available later this year, Nterprise Linux Services combines the benefits of Linux with proven, rock-solid support and network services from Novell.
"Because of their direct relationships with the leading global companies, Dell is able to rapidly deliver key solutions into the hands of the customers who need them," said Jack Messman, Novell chairman and CEO. "With Novell`s help, Dell is providing its customers the necessary technology to adopt Linux with the same level of security, sophistication and reliability they have always received from running Novell network services."
Linda Hargrove-York, vice-president of worldwide marketing for Dell, said: "Novell is embracing a cross-platform strategy that will enable Dell customers running their infrastructure on PowerEdge servers to deploy Novell`s file, print, messaging, directory and management services on their choice of Red Hat Linux or NetWare. This provides yet another choice for customers to migrate off of proprietary Unix-based systems."
