DefenceWeb is proud to be associated with the seventh International Defence Exhibition & Seminar (IDEAS), to be held in Karachi, Pakistan, between 7 and 11 November. As a media partner for IDEAS 2012, defenceWeb will be providing full coverage of the event as well as post-event analysis and follow-up.
IDEAS is one of the most prominent defence trade shows in the world, providing a platform to showcase defence technology and discuss defence-related matters. Since its inception by President Pervez Musharraf, in 2000, it has grown to include more than 30 000 delegates and 250 exhibitors from around the world. More than 2 000 weapons systems and equipment will be displayed this year.
Networking and seminars form a key element of IDEAS - at the 2008 edition, more than 1 000 high-level meetings were held between foreign delegations, government officials, senior services and exhibitors. These resulted in the conclusion of numerous sales, agreements and memoranda of understanding.
More than 500 people are expected to attend the IDEAS 2012 Conference, which is the centrepiece of the event. Around 35 countries are expected to be present at the conference, making it a truly global and dynamic forum, with billions of dollars of collective purchasing power together in one location.
The organisers of IDEAS promise to make this year's event the largest in its history and have extended the conference to cover three days. In addition, on 7 November, IDEAS 2012 will host a seminar, in co-ordination with the Centre for International Strategic Studies, entitled "Security Outlook 2025 - Future Security Trends and Challenges for Defence Industry in Mounting Technological Response".
One of the highlights of IDEAS is the Mobility Demonstration, which allows attendees the opportunity to see vehicles, equipment and machinery in action. This also complements the items on static display. The Mobility Display will take place in a 100m x 100m area with two artificial mounds and a ditch, allowing tracked and wheeled vehicles to demonstrate their capabilities.
