Dazel Output Server streamlines information delivery

Dazel, a subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard, has announced a new version of its Dazel Output Server, Version 3.2, designed to make delivery of business-critical documents and reports faster and easier for customers. Dazel and its family of information-delivery products help customers distribute and share information more quickly and easily within and between organisations.

"Dazel is focused on the delivery aspects of customer information - helping customers optimise business-to-business communication, improve business cycle times and reduce costs," says Mark Rothschild, output manager at Software Futures, HP`s local Dazel partner.

Dazel Output Server creates an information-delivery infrastructure across the enterprise so that business-critical output flows efficiently and can be easily managed regardless of the business application running; the platform supported; or the number of sites, recipients or output devices involved. Dazel Output Server 3.2, in conjunction with new releases of Dazel Output Explorer 3.0 and Dazel Output Envoy 1.1 offers the following:

  • New graphical interface that allows Dazel Output Server administrators to discover, interrogate and configure print destinations;

  • Streamlined day-to-day operations with new documentation, including a Maintenance Log Book and Maintenance Guide, standardised best practices to improve deployment. Enhanced, graphical notification and system message tracking make it faster and easier for operators to view and diagnose issues for an individual job or destination; and

  • System configuration enhancements: Dazel Output Server now supports multiple administrative domains residing on the same server, providing enhanced failover capabilities. Version 3.2 now supports guest delivery, which allows administrators to define a default set of privileges for anyone in the organisation.

Dazel Output Server 3.2 is slated to be available from Software Futures in July and supports the following operating environments: IBM AIX, HP-UX, Windows NT, and Sun Solaris. The Output Explorer 3.0, and Dazel Envoy 1.1 support the following: Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95 or Windows 98.
