Data protection for Swiss retailer

Charles Vogele, the Swiss fashion retail enterprise, has deployed the FalconStor virtual tape library (VTL) solution to provide comprehensive data protection, reports MarketWatch.

The solution includes storage consolidation, business continuity and disaster recovery for some 90TB of business data, including 25TB of production data.

The Swiss fashion retailer has also been able to shrink its backup window dramatically with FalconStor VTL.

PowerPack offerings unveiled

Vision Solutions, a high availability and disaster recovery solutions provider in IBM Power Systems markets, released Vision PowerPacks, reports CNNMoney.

Vision PowerPacks is an exclusive offering combining Vision Solutions software with leading IBM technologies to provide turnkey solutions for customers.

"These unique offerings extend IBM's latest Power Systems offerings with Vision's leading solutions to protect critical systems for mid-market to large companies," says Vision Solutions' senior vice-president of marketing, Edward Vesely.

Clearview invests in data centre

Clearview Managed Services opened a new data centre in Waco that the company will market to businesses throughout the state in support of their business continuity plans, reports Austin Business Journal.

The Waco Information Technology Gateway will support data recovery efforts from natural and man-made disasters and will be marketed to businesses in Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

The data centre has been built on a power grid that is separate from the electric systems in Texas' major cities, according to the company, which will provide for business continuity in the event of a blackout or brownout.
